RUDSETI has decided to provide training to unemployed youth

In view of increasing demand for healthy organic food, the Rural Development and Self Employment Training Institute (RUDSETI) has decided to provide training to unemployed youth from next month on cultivation of organic fruits and vegetables, according to its Executive Director M. Janardhan.

“A decision to this effect was taken by RUDSETI as there is a niche market for organic food products,” he told the media here.

Emphasis would be laid on online marketing and other computer-based courses as the trainees stand to get better jobs on completion of training, Mr. Janardhan explained.The RUDSETI has been sponsored by Syndicate Bank and Canara Bank and supported by the Union Rural Development Ministry for imparting skills to unemployed youth to enable them take to self-employment by arranging loan from commercial banks.

“We have tied up with the lead bank in each district to arrange loans to trainees from banks,” he said.He said RUDSETI would consider the demand for offering courses during weekends for the benefit of those who had already been employed and not in a position to stay at RUDSETI all through the week, Mr. Janardhan said.RUDSETI had trained over 24,000 unemployed persons in 62 different courses last year and planned to surpass the mark this year, said its Director G. Suryanarayana Murthy.
