Gandhi Bhavan Trust, Tirupati, which remained inactive for the last few years, is all set to take a formidable step in taking Gandhian values among the future generations.

The trust’s president and former MLA Reddivari Rajasekhara Reddy, who stayed off the socio-political radar for over a decade after sustaining injury in the 2003 Alipiri claymore mine attack along with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, is all set to take over the trust’s reins again. He announced on Friday to take up social activities aimed at perpetuating the glory of Mahatma Gandhi and spread his noble principles. The sprawling trust building, located in an extent of 88 cents in the heart of the city, is once again expected to become the fountainhead of Gandhian activities.

The trust will stage a comeback with Gandhi Jayanthi this year.“On October 2, marking the 150th birth anniversary of the Mahatma, we will take out an awareness rally on realising the ‘plastic-free Tirupati’ dream and also distribute cloth bags to the economically-backward people, since Gandhi Jayanti also coincides with the birth of Swachh Bharat Mission,” Mr. Reddy said.On his future plans, he said the premises would be renovated and activities revamped to endear Gandhi to the younger lot, especially at a time when the present generation had missed his messages on a fair and simple living.

“Gandhi Bhavan will work for elimination of negative emotions like ego, jealousy, hatred and pride, while nurturing noble qualities like sacrifice, humility, self-help, compassion in children through specially designed events,” he added.
