Former MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar urges Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Polavaram. He said to media that  he asked the two officials in his letter that whether they have agreed for arranging package amount on their own or made the commitment on behalf of the State government andhe added  CM was repeatedly stating in the Assembly as well as outside after the breakup with the NDA, that he agreed to take up the Polavaram project after the Centre came forward on its own to entrust the task to the State, but the Centre contends that on the request of the State only it agreed to hand over the project to the State.

He  wrote to Principal Secretary, Water Resources Department of Andhra Pradesh, as well as Engineer-in-Chief asking them how they have agreed to arrange R and R package amount to the villages which are going to submerge below 41.5 contour levels and in second phase at Full Reservoir Level (FRL), during the meeting between Polavaram Project Authority and the State government.

Mr. Arun Kumar demanded that now it was the responsibility of the Chief Minister to clarify on it. He reiterated that it was the sole responsibility of the Centre to construct the project as it was declared a national project and the State should not make any commitment on compensation or any other advances.

When asked about the protest of Telugu Desam MPs in Parliament on special category status, he said that Mr. Naidu has no commitment or firm stand on the issue. He said that Mr. Naidu was not using his influence to consult MPs of either AIDMK or TRS in preventing them from stalling the proceedings of the House.

Replying to another question, he said that it was not right to ask the film industry personalities to join the SCS agitation as it was not the State-sponsored agitation as in the case of Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu.
